EHR Reporting Isn’t Going Away ACA & MACRA are Here to Stay

East Windsor, NJ – March 28th 2017 – Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act of 2015 (MACRA)’s bi-partisan support means the Medicare reimbursement programs for physicians are unaffected by the current administration. MIPS is part of the MACRA legislation which is entirely separate from the Affordable Care Act. The program has started and the incentives or penalties will be levied in 2019.

According to a survey of attendees, conducted by Stoltenburg Consulting, at the annual HIMSS conference in Orlando, Executives and IT professionals from several types of provider organizations indicated they were “unprepared” or “very unprepared” to meet MACRA’s requirements. They cited their organization’s lack of qualified professionals and have understaffed IT departments to perform MACRA level data reporting.

SpectraMedix is fully prepared to take on MACRA through their enhanced software offering. The incentives offered with MACRA compliance are beneficial to the provider organizations through both the financial incentives gained and the requisite performance improvements in the organization. After regulatory initiatives have gone from voluntary to mandatory, the need for qualified professionals and data reporting mechanisms have increased dramatically. There is great urgency for provider organizations to be in compliance.

SpectraMedix brings the professional knowledge and innovative data reporting mechanisms to fit the needs of healthcare service providers. To take a deeper dive into the changes and help educate the industry, SpectraMedix founded and provides support for the National MACRA Advisory Council (MAC). The Council is made up of preeminent industry thought leaders, including the former Acting National Coordinator of the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC), prominent hospital CIOs, and leading healthcare IT business executives. The council was formed to provide solutions to challenges that executives, administrators, and clinicians face as they implement its Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) and Alternative Payment Model (APM) tracks. The insights gained from this team will uniquely position SpectraMedix to tackle the challenges ahead.
